“Welcome Back to Ridgewood: Fall Fun, Flavor, and Community Spirit Await!”

As summer fades and the back-to-school hustle begins, there’s no better time to rediscover the charm of Ridgewood, NJ. Nestled in the heart of Bergen County, this picturesque village is bursting with excitement as it transitions from sun-soaked days to cozy autumn evenings. Ridgewood's dining scene is brimming with delicious options this fall. I wanted to share a few of my personal favorites. Start your culinary journey at Felina, known for its refined Italian cuisine and elegant atmosphere. For a taste of classic American fare, Park West Tavern serves up comfort food with a twist and features a fantastic outdoor patio perfect for a crisp fall evening.  "Park West is like the Cheers of Ridgewood". When you stop in, you are bound to run into familiar faces!  Enjoy delicious pizza at Segidio's, where traditional Italian recipes meet local ingredients. When my kids are ordering their favorite pizza, they always ask for the "Fiamma" at S. Egidio's (san marzanos, fior di latte, 'nduja, soppressata piccante, spicy chile infused honey) - to die for!!.  For sushi lovers, Maru Sushi offers the best sushi in Ridgewood with its fresh and innovative dishes. Maru has a great atmosphere! And don’t forget to visit the Ridgewood Farmers Market for seasonal produce and artisanal goodies - the fresh mozzarella is a must!

2. Celebrate Community Spirit at Local Street Fairs

Ridgewood’s street fairs are legendary, and September is packed with them! Join the fun at the Ridgewood Fall Craft & Street Fair on September 15th, where you can explore a vibrant array of local crafts, delicious food trucks, and live entertainment. With activities for all ages, it’s the perfect way to dive into the town’s lively atmosphere. Kids will love the face painting and balloon animals, while adults can enjoy browsing unique vendors and listening to local bands. 

3. Art, Culture, and Music: A Feast for the Senses

Ridgewood’s cultural scene offers a rich tapestry of experiences. Dive into local arts at the Ridgewood Art Institute, featuring diverse exhibits from talented local and national artists. For a unique local theater experience, catch a performance at the Little Theatre, where Ridgewood’s high school performers bring captivating productions to life.

Music lovers will find plenty to enjoy at Steel Wheel Tavern, which hosts a fantastic lineup of local bands and artists in a lively setting. Pair the music with great food and a vibrant atmosphere for an unforgettable night out. Steel Wheel is always my go-to for a quick catchup with friends. The music is the perfect backdrop!

4. Family Fun at Oktoberfest

Get ready for a weekend of harvest fun at The Ridgewood Guild’s 5th Annual Oktoberfest on October 13th, 2024, in the West Village at Wilsey Square. Enjoy an old-fashioned tractor-drawn hayride to the Heights, pumpkin painting, kidz corner, vendor market, food, Biergarten and more! This was my favorite event last year!

5. Shop Local: Ridgewood’s Must-Visit Stores

Ridgewood is home to some fantastic shops that offer unique finds and local charm. Here are a few highlights and some of my standout pics:

• Bookends: This beloved bookstore offers a cozy atmosphere and a well-curated selection of new and classic reads. Plus, Bookends regularly hosts exciting author meet-and-greets, providing fans the opportunity to interact with their favorite writers and discover new literary voices. On October 6th, they will be hosting a fall book festival!

• Village Tea Shop: Specializing in fine teas, gifts, and gourmet goodies, Village Tea Shop is a haven for tea enthusiasts and those seeking unique presents.

• Hunt & Orchard: This charming boutique offers a curated selection of home décor, gifts, and specialty items, ideal for adding a touch of style to your home.

• Envy by MG: Offering upscale clothing and accessories, Envy by Melissa Gorga is the go-to store for chic trends and stylish finds. 

• The Hive: Creatively curated with beautiful fashions, jewelry, and home décor, The Hive is a must-visit for those looking to enhance their style and home with unique finds. Check them out on Instagram here.  This is always my first stop for hostess gifts!

• Town Home and Garden: This luxury resale shop features beautifully curated vintage furniture, accessories, and lighting for the home, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your space. Explore their offerings on Instagram here. If I could furnish my whole home from this shop, I would!
